Book Review: The Jesus I Never Knew by Phillip Yancey

Phillip Yancey was a new author for my library, and I was unbelievably impressed with his style and command of the English language. His vocabulary forced me to have a dictionary open for almost every chapter that I read. I enjoyed having to stop and ponder what he was really trying to say. He's not content to use the normal vernacular; he's articulate in the best way possible. He is wanting to communicate in the clearest fashion possible and sometimes that requires big words.

His thorough and in-depth research make this book a winner. Jesus is brought forth into a fresh light that transformed how I evaluated my own walk. If this is the man that I am supposed to be mirroring my life after, how well am I really doing? What needs to change? What am I doing well? Yancey challenged me in this book to plunge into the depths of my soul and examine what I really thought about Jesus.
